Drakengard was a title I picked up one day that looked rather interesting. Flying around on a dragon? Saving the world you know from total destruction and spreading good over a world gone bad? Sounds fun right?
In Drakengard, your some level of royalty, who comes upon your castle to find it raided by some evil cult. You eventually come across a red dragon, and since you're both near death, you make a blood pact to save each other's life. You lose your voice, but you gain a freaking dragon and some sort of strength. And then you go around and kill things!
To be quite honest, Drakengard is actually kind of lame. Repetitive music, repetitive game play... and at times, very, VERY frustrating. The controls are rather slow and lazy, mobs seem ENDLESS at times. When you're doing ground missions, it's so easy to just jump on your dragon and take out mob after mob of cultist. But by far, the most frustrating thing are the aerial missions, when you're flying around on your dragon and shooting fireballs at things. You cant turn at all... the camera is horrible, it takes forever to make things go boom... You can spend hour upon hour just trying to get past the simplist stages... which if you ask me, is VERY frustrating.
But what the game does have is a variety of swords and axes with different abilities. Some do poison damage, others do fire... some are fast and deadly, others are slow and deal more damage per hit. The mroe you use them, the higher level they get (they go up to four) and the faster you swing them, the more deadly they become, the stronger their power gets. Same for your dragon.
In the end, Drakengard is a simple, hack and slash/aerial game that is good to kill time with if you need it. Mildly entertaining, and has some crazy kid loving in there too, if you unlock that cut scene.
