My xbox 360 felt neglected one day, so one day, I picked up N3: Ninety-Nine nights for it. When the opening scene came one, I swear I nearly creamed myself. The graphics looked AMAZING. And they were... you bet they were. But that was about all the game has going for it.

In N3, you start as Imphy, a crimson night of light that is to vanquish the Goblin King, or live in darkness forever. Goblins are attacking everyone and everything, so you most travel around and kill them all. The plot is very non-linear, in the sense that you can play as 9 different characters, which you unlock as you go along, and each character has a different view in situations, especially when two or more cross paths in the game. You have the 12 year old mage, the mid-aged guy with a giant pillar like staff that he swings at people with, the sword wielding sister in crimson and the mace wielding brother in cobalt, even a goblin specializing in daggers. It's a nice variety of characters if you ask me.

But if you dont have the attention span for very repetitive gameplay, then dont pick this game up. The only variety this game has is it's button smashing combinations, and it's random items you can pick up and equip to make your current character play a little better. You do level, but only to level 7 or so (why the random number, I never found out) and if you dont do a lot of discovery in the battle grounds, you would never know there are different level of weapons you can find and equip to dish out more damage faster. There's not even a hint at that, and unless you're VERY noticable, you'll be quite lost the entire game. And they tried to put some "you have men you can control" action in there... but dont bother, because it's pointless, lame and I dont think it was even meant to work.

Not to metion it's like like for every character you play for, and is rather boring after the first few full plot lines you play through.

Final verdict: yet another game you'd play if you were wishing to kill time with. Nothing special other than the graphics, and just a wanna be war game that just happens to take place in a medieval sort of world.
